Job Description:

The Registered Nurse will deliver Relationship-Based Care to pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients with both acute and chronic conditions. This role requires the nurse to apply specialized knowledge and skills to provide nursing excellence within designated patient care areas, using the nursing process to fulfill responsibilities in five key areas: clinician, clinical inquiry, educator, professional development, and leadership. Nurses in this role will integrate the developmental needs of pediatric and adolescent patients while supporting hospital and department quality goals.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments using a variety of tools and methods specific to the patient’s needs.
2. Develop, individualize, and update care plans, ensuring goals align with family needs and document changes.
3. Create tailored teaching plans to address the learning needs of patients and their families, adjusting as necessary.
4. Administer nursing care according to established protocols, anticipating and intervening effectively in emergent situations.
5. Communicate with families and multidisciplinary team members to address healthcare needs and report changes in patient status.
6. Stay current with nursing practices by utilizing up-to-date literature for problem-solving and enhancing care.
7. Actively participate in hospital and departmental quality initiatives.
8. Maintain communication, service excellence, and professional standards that support the hospital’s mission and values.
9. Collaborate effectively as part of a team to achieve unit and hospital goals.
10. Identify personal learning needs and utilize resources to further nursing knowledge and professional goals.
11. Provide excellent customer service, focusing on innovation, teamwork, and service excellence.
12. Demonstrate competency in protocols related to chemical disinfection, high-level disinfection, and sterilization if required by the role.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or Associates degree in Nursing (ADN) with plans to complete BSN within 2 years of hire.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, physicians, and staff.

Department-specific certifications may be required.

Compensation:

Hourly Range: $37.00 – $61.05
