Location: 875 N. Michigan Avenue (John Hancock Center)
Schedule: Day Shift | Four 10-hour shifts, 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM | Variable weekdays (Monday–Friday)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD) team. This role primarily supports our Oncology division, while also providing coverage for Hematology, Stem Cell Transplant, and Survivorship patients as needed.
As a nurse on this team, you’ll deliver relationship-based care to children, adolescents, and young adults facing acute and chronic conditions. You’ll bring clinical expertise, empathy, and collaboration to every interaction—while helping to advance care standards through leadership, education, and inquiry.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments using specialized tools and methods.
- Develop, adapt, and evaluate individualized care and teaching plans for patients and families.
- Administer care aligned with clinical protocols and best practices.
- Monitor and communicate patient status with families and interdisciplinary team members.
- Support emergency interventions as needed with critical thinking and poise.
- Utilize clinical literature and hospital initiatives to inform practice.
- Foster a respectful, inclusive, and team-oriented environment.
- Actively contribute to unit and hospital-wide goals, quality improvement, and professional development.
- Uphold Magnet principles, including transformational leadership, structural empowerment, and exemplary professional practice.
Qualifications
Required:
- Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Illinois.
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN or higher).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Pediatric Oncology.
- Strong Peripheral IV (PIV) skills (training available).
- CPHON certification preferred (must be obtained within 18 months of hire).
Pay Range
$34.50 – $56.93 per hour
Compensation is determined based on experience, internal equity, and market conditions. In addition to base pay, Lurie Children’s offers competitive differentials and performance-based incentives where applicable.
