Job Description

About Kodiak Robotics

Founded in 2018, Kodiak Robotics is a leader in AI-powered autonomous vehicle technology, focused on building a safer and more efficient future through driverless commercial trucking. Our proprietary technology stack is designed for autonomous freight operations and features a modular hardware system that seamlessly integrates perception sensors into durable, serviceable pods. Kodiak operates autonomous freight deliveries daily across the Sun Belt and for Atlas Energy in the Permian Basin. In addition to commercial operations, we apply our self-driving software to support the U.S. Department of Defense with cutting-edge autonomous capabilities.

Position: Field Integration Engineer

We’re seeking a Field Integration Engineer to lead failure analysis, hardware validation, and continuous improvement initiatives across our integrated hardware systems. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Firmware, and Technicians—to identify root causes, validate fixes, and ensure the quality of both new and serviced hardware. Your work will help enhance diagnostic tools, refine documentation, and inform product improvements based on customer feedback.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead root-cause investigations across electrical, mechanical, and software systems
  • Validate corrective actions to prevent repeat failures
  • Perform detailed inspections and functional tests of new hardware and RMAs
  • Gather and relay customer feedback to influence product enhancements
  • Create and review technical documentation (schematics, build instructions, quality checks)
  • Develop improved diagnostic methods to identify failure modes more efficiently

What You Bring:

  • Hands-on experience debugging and assembling complex hardware/software systems—ideally in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or similar fields
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues to varied audiences
  • Familiarity with automotive electronics and protocols like Ethernet, CAN, LIN, and 100BASE-T1
  • A self-directed, resourceful approach to problem-solving

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with autonomy-related sensors (LiDAR, radar, cameras, INS)
  • Prototyping skills (electronics, wire harnesses, custom hardware)
  • Familiarity with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks), soldering, and hardware design
  • Programming/scripting experience (C++, Python, C, ROS, Bash)
  • Comfort with Ubuntu/Linux/Windows operating systems
  • Background in failure analysis

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary ($120,000–$150,000) + equity + biannual bonus
  • Comprehensive health coverage (Kaiser Permanente, Anthem, Guardian) including infertility benefits
  • Flexible PTO and generous parental leave
  • Disability, life insurance, and wellness benefits (Headspace, Gympass, Spring Health, etc.)
  • 401(k) with Fidelity
  • Additional benefits: commuter assistance, FSA, HSA, dependent care FSA
  • Incentive programs: referral, patent bonuses, and more
