Title: Assistant Teaching Professor, Department of Biobehavioral Nursing and Health Informatics

Position Details
The Department of Biobehavioral Nursing and Health Informatics (BNHI) at the University of Washington School of Nursing invites applications for two Assistant Teaching Professor positions. These positions are available as 50% to full-time, 9-month, teaching-track faculty appointments starting in September 2025. While the role is a 9-month appointment, there may be opportunities for teaching or research funding during the summer quarter. The initial appointment is a 3-year term with the possibility of renewal. The base salary for this role will range from $9,500 to $10,900 per month ($85,500 to $98,100 annually), depending on experience and qualifications.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching and mentoring a diverse student body in both undergraduate and graduate nursing programs, while collaborating across various disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds. Responsibilities include teaching didactic and clinical courses, with in-person teaching required as needed. Positive factors for consideration include demonstrated leadership in mentoring students, clinical faculty, and preceptors, as well as experience working with underserved and diverse populations.

About the Department
The Department of Biobehavioral Nursing and Health Informatics (BNHI) is dedicated to promoting wellness, social justice, and health equity for individuals, communities, and families. The department includes 18 tenure-track faculty (17 with tenure, 1 without tenure), 5 research faculty, 5 teaching-track faculty, and 9 clinical-track faculty. BNHI focuses on enhancing healthcare systems, studying the health of adults and older adults, promoting wellness, and addressing health equity across various stages of life, from prevention to acute and palliative care. The department is committed to advancing health equity and enhancing the scholarly and practice expertise in nursing and related disciplines.

Qualifications

A Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in a relevant field (or foreign equivalent) is required.

Candidates must be eligible for RN or APRN/ARNP licensure in Washington State prior to the start date.

A minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience.

At least one year of experience teaching in undergraduate or graduate nursing programs.

For foreign-trained candidates: To qualify for an H-1B visa with patient care responsibilities, candidates who graduated from non-U.S. nursing schools must have a Visa Screen credentials assessment from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS).
