We are seeking a skilled professional with expertise in roadway alternative analysis, horizontal and vertical alignments, and 3D design. You will be working on a variety of roadway design projects in collaboration with VDOT, DDOT, MDOT, and local municipalities.

This role involves taking responsibility for the creation and modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications for assigned projects. You will work closely with the project manager, performing research, development, calculations, design, and delivery. Applying engineering techniques, procedures, and design criteria, you will address design-related challenges, ensuring tasks are completed according to the project schedule. Your work will contribute to the creation of conceptual and detailed designs, utilizing current drawing tools, programs, and software. Additionally, you may mentor junior engineering staff, offering guidance and constructive feedback. As part of the team, your contributions will help deliver successful outcomes for a wide range of projects for HNTB’s clients.

What You’ll Do:

• Plan and distribute discipline-specific work while ensuring adherence to project schedules and budgets.
• Assist with marketing efforts, including proposal generation.
• Support the development of project scope and level of effort within your discipline.
• Oversee the accuracy and completeness of the project team’s work, guiding and mentoring the team toward meeting project objectives.
• Coordinate technical aspects of the project with clients and partners at the staff level.
• Collaborate with other disciplines on multi-disciplinary projects.
• Perform other duties as needed.

What You’ll Need:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 6 years of relevant experience, or
• Master’s degree in Engineering with 5 years of relevant experience, or
• PhD in Engineering with 4 years of relevant experience.

What You’ll Bring:

• Understanding of how decisions impact technical design and work planning.
• Ability to coordinate work planning and design across multiple disciplines.
• Experience preparing high-quality deliverables on time, within budget, and within scope.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, OpenRoads Designer, and MicroStation.

What We Prefer:

• 8 years of relevant experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification.

Compensation:

The approximate pay range for Maryland is $98,332.76 – $153,802.53. Please note that this range is an estimate and actual compensation will depend on factors like experience, qualifications, and physical work location within the state.

The approximate pay range for Washington, DC is $107,697.79 – $168,450.39. Again, compensation will vary based on similar factors.
