Job Description:

The History Department at SUNY Fredonia is dedicated to providing students with engaging and meaningful courses for aspiring educators. We offer undergraduate programs in History and Social Studies Adolescence Education.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will report to the Department Chair and will be expected to:

• Teach upper-level courses within their area of specialization and world history surveys.
• Engage in research and scholarly work relevant to their field.
• Foster strong interpersonal relationships with students, faculty, and staff, and work effectively within a collegial and professional environment.
• Contribute to curriculum development and enhancement.
• Advise students on academic matters.
• Serve on committees and contribute to departmental, institutional, and professional service.
• Adhere to all university policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in History by August 2025.
• A scholarly record appropriate to the candidate’s academic experience.
• A demonstrated commitment to inclusive education.
• Experience working with diverse student populations and colleagues.
• Familiarity with instructional technology.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience teaching secondary-level social studies or preparing teachers for grades 7-12.
• Previous experience in teacher preparation programs.
• A demonstrated interest in community engagement.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time, UUP-represented, term-appointed, tenure-track position starting in Fall 2025. The salary range for this position is $51,000–$55,000, commensurate with experience.
