Position Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – CCU

Purpose:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the CCU will deliver safe, effective, and culturally-competent care for patients ranging from adolescents to adults, with life-threatening medical-surgical conditions. Responsibilities include conducting complex assessments, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care using critical thinking and evidence-based practices. The role also involves administering high-intensity therapies and providing continuous nursing surveillance. Adherence to ANA Professional Practice Standards and active participation in quality improvement activities are essential.
Reporting to: Manager
Direction: Assist with scheduling, assigning, and coordinating work. Guide, instruct, and mentor team members in their tasks, although the role does not involve formal supervisory responsibilities. Serve as a team leader or “lead” role informally.
Materials Responsibility: Limited responsibility for material resources such as supplies and equipment. Errors in this area have limited impact.
POSITION SPECIFICATION
Education: Associate’s Degree in Nursing
Licensure/Registration: Must be a Registered Nurse in Illinois; Registered Nurse in Iowa within 1 year
Experience: Less than 1 year of experience required
Specialized Training: Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS, PALS required. Critical care certification and a Baccalaureate in Nursing are preferred
Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills are essential due to the nature of interactions, which are often sensitive or complex. Ability to handle difficult situations with professionalism and empathy is required.
Working Conditions:
Routine exposure to adverse environmental conditions including physical hazards, health, and safety risks. Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn. Exposure is limited to 70% or less of the workday.
