About the Role

As an Advanced Development Technician, you will support the development and testing of mechanical, electrical, and thermal systems for Ford’s next-generation electric vehicle (EV) platforms. You’ll work hands-on with engineers and fellow innovators to bring new EV technologies from concept to reality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineers to build, modify, instrument, and test components and systems (mechanical, electrical, and thermal).
  • Perform root cause analysis on early-stage validation failures.
  • Execute machining and fabrication for prototype and test projects.
  • Design, assemble, and debug test fixtures and control systems.
  • Conduct experiments, collect test data, and manage data storage and access.
  • Maintain and coordinate repairs of lab equipment and tools.
  • Integrate new parts or systems into test setups and provide manufacturability feedback.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and use precision tools to verify component specs.
  • Diagnose and resolve embedded systems issues across various vehicle communication protocols.

What You’ll Need

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree or certificate in Automotive Technology/Repair or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 1+ year of experience in EV architecture and integration development or comparable work.
  • Valid Class C driver’s license or ability to obtain.
  • Experience in machining, fabrication, and lab equipment maintenance/calibration.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience.

Experience in:

  • Building and launching automotive products.
  • Prototyping and testing electrical, thermal, and mechanical systems.
  • Instrumentation and data acquisition.
  • Diagnosing HVAC systems and managing fluids (glycol, refrigerant, oils).
  • Creating/interpreting wiring diagrams for test equipment.
  • Controls methods for automotive systems.
  • Navigating 3DX/CATIA V6 and reading 2D engineering drawings.
