About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced and motivated Section Manager – Engineering to lead a technical team in delivering high-impact infrastructure projects. In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing staff, overseeing project delivery, maintaining client relationships, and ensuring high-quality service across the board. You’ll supervise a team of at least 5 (typically 7–10+) professionals and play a key role in mentoring talent, driving performance, and ensuring projects meet scope, budget, and timeline goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the section’s operating budget and contribute to group and office forecasting.
  • Lead and support the growth and development of your engineering team, including staffing, mentoring, and training.
  • Coordinate section activities, establish priorities, and allocate staff to meet client needs and project demands.
  • Collaborate with other sections and departments on shared projects and resourcing.
  • Contribute to business development efforts by supporting strategic planning and client pursuit activities.
  • Participate in contract management, project scoping, and fee negotiations.
  • Ensure high standards in project delivery through effective work planning and monthly reviews.
  • Assist in marketing activities such as proposal preparation, client discovery, and presentations.
  • Maintain strong client relationships to ensure satisfaction and continued success.
  • Recruit, retain, and develop section staff, including succession planning and performance management.
  • Oversee project execution, including design, specifications, reports, and quality control.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience with supervisory responsibilities.
  • Professional certifications such as PE, AICP, or PMP.

Compensation

The estimated salary range for Ohio is $123,854.48 – $193,721.12. Actual pay will depend on qualifications, experience, and location within the state.
