Position: Electrical System Development Engineer – Low Voltage Systems
Location: Hybrid (up to 3 days onsite weekly if within commuting distance of a Ford hub)
Salary Grade: 8
Visa Sponsorship: Available for qualified candidates

Join our team as an Electrical System Development Engineer focused on Low Voltage (LV) systems. In this role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for all LV system requirements, working closely with both internal teams and external suppliers to characterize components and ensure robust system design. You’ll be an integral member of a cross-functional group, contributing to system DFMEAs, functional safety assessments, and the successful launch of next-generation EV platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define, develop, and maintain low voltage system requirements
  • Manage and release LV system requirement documentation in accordance with Ford’s internal processes
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and suppliers to characterize LV components and refine system specifications
  • Ensure LV systems meet functional and performance objectives
  • Actively contribute to Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA) activities
  • Partner with integration and validation engineers to support system development and testing
  • Stay informed on industry standards and technological advancements (e.g., IEC, ISO)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 3+ years of experience in automotive component/system development and release
  • Strong understanding of EV electrical system architecture
  • Hands-on experience with low voltage system and/or component development
  • Solid grasp of electrical engineering fundamentals applied to automotive systems
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience with low voltage system development
  • 2+ years of experience in hardware/system design
  • Proficiency in DFMEA and HARA processes
