Mobile Engineer – Digital Payments (Amex Tech)
Salary Range: $85,000 – $150,000 annually + bonus + benefits

Our Chief Technology Office (CTO) Organization sets the bar for technical standards, strategy, and talent across the enterprise. Within this group, our Digital Payments Engineering team focuses on building and evolving the next generation of interactive mobile experiences—from new payment vehicles to in-app user journeys.
What You’ll Do
As a Mobile Engineer, you’ll play a key role in building high-impact mobile and mobile web products. Working in an agile environment, you’ll:
- Design, develop, and test scalable and secure solutions.
- Collaborate with product managers and other engineers to define requirements and technical direction.
- Develop applications and services using best-in-class tools and frameworks.
- Help set and maintain engineering standards and champion technical innovation.
- Contribute to all stages of agile delivery: story elaboration, design, development, testing, and automation.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience (3+ years).
- Proven experience working in a product-focused tech environment.
- Expertise in Java 8, Vert.x, and Spring Framework.
- Solid understanding of RESTful API design and reactive programming.
- Familiarity with XML, JSON, web services, and data structures.
- Experience with agile methodologies and cross-functional collaboration.
Bonus points for:
- Exposure to mobile app development in an enterprise environment.
- Hands-on experience with React or other modern web frameworks.
- Knowledge of payments technologies and trends.
- Understanding of American Express platforms.
