Position Overview:

As an Outpatient Registered Nurse (RN) in the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP), you’ll play an essential role in providing and coordinating high-quality, compassionate care to patients in need. As a key member of the healthcare team, you’ll assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate the care of your patients. You’ll collaborate with your team and assist with mentoring and training other staff members, all while being part of an environment dedicated to enhancing patient care outcomes and improving facility operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work under the guidance of the Supervisor, Clinical Educator, Preceptor, or Registered Nurse team, and collaborate to provide patient care.
• Continuously collect, assess, and document patient data before, during, and after hemodialysis treatment, adjusting the treatment plan as necessary and consulting with the Team Leader, Charge Nurse, Supervisor, or Physician when needed.
• Educate patients and their families about their care, addressing basic learning needs and providing ongoing support.
• Lead and provide, with the support of direct and ancillary staff, safe and effective hemodialysis therapy to patients.
• Administer medications as prescribed, documenting the medical rationale and outcomes.
• Take immediate action in emergency situations and assist in crisis management.
• Be a resource to the healthcare team and assist in staff training and orientation of new hires.
• Ensure accurate laboratory collection and processing, and help with rescheduling missed or incorrect lab tests.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop, document, and update the patient’s care plan based on expected outcomes.
• Educate patients about transplant options and treatment modalities.
• Complete all CAP requirements to continue your professional development.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

This role involves direct patient care that requires physical stamina, including heavy lifting and assisting with patient mobility. You’ll spend much of your time on your feet, bending, and occasionally moving equipment weighing up to 200 lbs. You may also be required to lift solutions weighing up to 30 lbs. The work environment is within a healthcare facility, with moderate noise levels and climate control. While you will be working with patients and staff in person, there may also be desk and computer work, as well as occasional travel for training or to other facilities.

Supervision:

As a member of the team, you may be asked to oversee other patient care staff such as Patient Care Technicians, LVNs, and RNs, once you’ve met all required training and experience milestones.

Education & Licensure Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (required)
• CGFNS Visa Screen Certificate or NCLEX pass letter or state-specific Registered Nurse License
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Must meet all state-specific licensure requirements

Experience & Skills:

• Minimum of 9 months as a Registered Nurse (preferred, not required)
• Experience in chronic or acute hemodialysis (preferred)
