We’re seeking a Section Manager – Engineering to lead a professional or technical discipline team in the design, development, and delivery of key project tasks. You’ll oversee scope, budget, and quality control while managing staff schedules and assignments to ensure resources align with client needs. This role also involves mentoring team members and ensuring high-quality project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage the section’s operating budget in line with group/office goals.
- Lead and grow a discipline-specific engineering section, including mentoring, training, and professional development.
- Collaborate with other departments on cross-functional projects and work-sharing opportunities.
- Support strategic business planning and proposal efforts, including client development and interviews.
- Manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and quality, ensuring client satisfaction.
- Guide project delivery through firm processes (SDA, SCA, SSA), including reviews and contracting.
- Recruit, hire, and retain team members; oversee performance and succession planning.
- Perform technical tasks, such as design, research, reporting, and plan preparation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, including 2 years in a leadership role
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Engineering
- 10 years of experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience
