The Ford EV Digital & Design team is at the forefront of creating breakthrough electric vehicles from the ground up. Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the hardware design team to create new vehicle electronic control units (ECUs) with optimized performance, reliability, and cost.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams (electrical, testing, manufacturing, quality) to ensure designs follow Design for Excellence (DFX) principles and meet high-quality standards.
• Design and develop engineering prototypes using rapid prototyping techniques; coordinate testing to validate functionality and performance.
• Engage with suppliers from the concept phase to assess processes and materials based on manufacturability, quality, cost, and reliability requirements, and assist with design improvements to resolve fabrication-related quality issues.
• Develop mechanical function specifications and support test planning, execution, and documentation based on design requirements and industry regulations.
• Contribute to the creation of assembly and test fixtures for all phases of the product lifecycle.
• Mentor and collaborate with junior engineers and technicians, fostering their professional development.

What You’ll Need:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in designing, developing, and releasing electro-mechanical components and systems for high-volume production.
• Hands-on experience with PCBA integration into mechanical enclosures and knowledge of related processes such as press-fit pin, soldering, and conformal coating.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (die casting, injection molding, sheet metal forming, CNC machining, etc.) and fabrication methods.
• Expertise in CAD tools like Catia, Enovia, or similar software.
• Experience with GD&T and tolerance stack analysis.
• High attention to detail, ensuring the organization, accuracy, and quality of design work.
• Ability to use simulation and test results to refine designs.
• Strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to apply them broadly to vehicle systems and manufacturing processes.
• A collaborative mindset, eager to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, high-performance team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in electric vehicle technologies and components, including power conversion electronics, battery packs, traction inverters, HV power distribution systems, and ECUs.
• Experience with FEA and thermal modeling.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical information to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• A system-level approach to design and development, with a strong drive for exceptional execution and continuous improvement.
