We’re currently seeking a Section Manager – Engineering, responsible for leading a team within a specific professional or technical discipline. This role includes managing design and development tasks, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget, and to the highest quality standards. You’ll oversee project priorities, coordinate staffing, and provide technical guidance and mentorship to a team of 7–10+ employees.

What You’ll Do

  • Oversee and manage the section’s operating budget, aligning it with broader group or office forecasts.
  • Lead and grow a team of engineering professionals, ensuring mentorship, training, and career development opportunities.
  • Set priorities, assign staff to projects, and ensure efficient workload distribution and collaboration across departments.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and support HNTB’s Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA) in project pursuits.
  • Implement project delivery best practices (SDA), including work planning, monthly reviews, and quality assurance measures.
  • Participate in marketing and business development efforts, including proposals, client meetings, and interviews.
  • Maintain strong client relationships to ensure satisfaction and foster long-term partnerships.
  • Handle hiring, staff evaluations, compensation planning, and succession management for your section.
  • Manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets, and contribute technically to designs, reports, and specifications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience, including 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role

What We Prefer

  • Master’s degree in Engineering
  • 10 years of practical experience
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification
