Job Description

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Design and release CAD models for mechanical systems and components.
  • Develop, test, and validate new designs that meet the needs of both current and future products.
  • Apply core engineering principles such as statics, dynamics, and mechanics of materials to iterate and improve designs quickly.
  • Use Python or MATLAB to gather, organize, and analyze large data sets.
  • Work closely with the design team to bring concepts to life using rapid prototyping and supporting calculations.
  • Conduct engineering analysis and simulations to identify and resolve design issues early in development.
  • Prepare accurate and detailed design documentation, including part and assembly drawings, to support manufacturing.
  • Assist projects throughout the tooling, testing, and manufacturing phases.
  • Create and review technical drawings and product specifications using CAD software.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and contractors to ensure alignment and timely delivery.
  • Estimate project costs and make design decisions with a focus on safety and effectiveness.
  • Verify design accuracy and maintain thorough process documentation.
  • Manage bills of materials and ensure records are kept up to date.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with post-processing CAE data using tools such as META or Altair Hyperview.

Minimum Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (in progress or completed)
  • At least 5 years of experience in automotive product development
  • Proficiency in Catia V5/6, 3DX, or similar CAD software
  • Experience using project tracking tools such as Confluence and Jira
  • Strong knowledge of the full product development lifecycle
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience developing engineering tools using Python or MATLAB
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
  • Understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and technologies used in automotive structures
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects across various timelines and teams
