Position Overview
The University of Delaware is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Human Resources Generalist to join the HR Hub team within the Division of Student Life. Reporting to the Assistant Director/Team Lead of the HR Hub, this role delivers client-focused HR support across various functions, including onboarding, offboarding, payroll, employee relations, risk mitigation, and compliance.
This position plays a vital role in ensuring a positive and seamless employee experience, promoting operational efficiency, and maintaining accurate HR data and records. The successful candidate will build strong working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders and contribute to the continuous improvement of HR services.
Key Responsibilities
HR Operations & Data Management
- Lead execution of HR transactions such as JEDs, Position Change Forms, Supervisor Updates, Additional Assignments, S-Contracts, and more.
- Manage employee data updates in HR systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Assist with HR initiatives and special projects that support process improvement and data integrity.
- Advise departments on data management practices and tools.
- Support critical processes such as SEMU, graduate turnaround, and auto terminations.
Employee Lifecycle Support
- Coordinate onboarding for all new hires, including documentation, orientation, and training.
- Facilitate offboarding for faculty and staff, including exit procedures and interviews.
- Support supervisors in timekeeping and attendance through UD Workforce.
- Respond to Tier 1 HR service tickets and assist with hiring of part-time and student employees.
- Process performance reviews, MOUs, reclassifications, and FLSA status changes.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, including employee overpayments.
- Coordinate off-cycle check requests as needed.
Visa and Compliance Support
- Prepare and submit FLSA documentation for review and approval.
- Provide administrative support for visa sponsorship processes when required.
- Monitor sabbatical and leave requests to ensure compliance.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong, consultative relationships with academic and administrative partners.
- Serve as a liaison between the HR Hub, HR Partners, and Centers of Excellence.
- Collaborate on initiatives that enhance HR operations, knowledge-sharing, and service delivery.
Other Duties
Perform other HR-related tasks as assigned in support of team and institutional goals.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years in HR, with a focus on onboarding, payroll, or employee relations—or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
