We are currently seeking a Senior Project Manager – Engineering to lead the full lifecycle of assigned projects. This includes everything from scoping and contract negotiation to overseeing execution and ensuring delivery that meets HNTB’s 4 for 4 performance standard—on time, on budget, high quality, and client satisfaction.
This role involves overseeing project budgets, schedules, contracts, technical specifications, and stakeholder communication. You’ll coordinate cross-disciplinary teams and internal/external partners to solve design and delivery challenges. Projects typically include multi-disciplinary teams for mini-mega ($1M–<$5M), mega ($5M–<$25M), or key roles on super mega (>$25M) projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop project scopes, budgets, and technical proposals under HNTB’s Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA)
- Act as primary client liaison, ensuring alignment of scope, schedule, and budget
- Lead design, analysis, reporting, and specifications for assigned engineering projects
- Manage and mentor project teams using HNTB’s Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA)
- Oversee project staffing, team development, and succession planning
- Support business development efforts through relationship-building and proposal leadership in line with HNTB’s Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA)
- Contribute to industry presentations and client engagements
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
What We’re Looking For
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- Minimum 12 years of relevant experience, including 4 years managing engineering projects
- Demonstrated success managing complex, multi-disciplinary teams
- Proven ability to manage risk and change proactively
- Proficient in project management systems and tools
- Experience leading sub-consultants and external partners
- Strong client relationship and communication skills
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Engineering
- 15+ years of relevant experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- AICP or PMP certification
